5 Best Free Views in San Francisco

San Francisco is a city of hills, and therefor views abound. There are also several buildings with excellent views. And unlike Manhatten, which is flat and indugling in a view can cost up to $79 most of our views are free. Sure, there are places where you might be charged at little (Coit Tower–$10 for non-residents), or need to buy a drink (the Top of the Mark and other rooftop bars), but the best views don’t cost you a dime.
Here are the 5 best free views in San Francisco.

  1. A hidden gem in Golden Gate Park. The Observation Deck in the DeYoung Museum
  2. A downtown rooftop that you might have all to yourself. 343 Sansome Street.
  3. Beautiful steps, beautiful view. 16th Ave Tiled Steps
  4. If you’re at the 16th Ave Steps, go a little higher for a panoramic city view. Grand View Park
  5. A view just above Golden Gate park that even most locals don’t know about. 400 Parnassus
